FISH RIVER IRRIGATION FARM (80ha water rights)

Size: 122,3030ha – 90ha developed for irrigation with 80ha water rights.
This property mainly Hutton type deep soil is situated high up on the canal. One of the first farms to draw water from the Fish River scheme therefore the irrigation water is of high quality with very little salt. The region is well known for high yields and in the annual “Cradock Saad Verspreiders ” competition the winner for the Northern area with a yield of 22 tons of maize per hectare was from this area.
The irrigation has been developed into 18ha permaset, 72 hectares flood irrigation (68ha lazered)
Crops are 30ha Lucerne for cutting, 10ha Lucerne grazing, 46ha of pastures and 4ha of maize. Divided into 10 lambing camps, 30 land camps and 4 veld camps. Water from the canal is through 2 sluices with electronic meters. The main sluice is electronically controlled.
No homestead, enclosed shed, open shed, 4 staff houses, good stock handling facilities, loading ramp etc. Storage dam and Eskom 100kva.
